The central government is launching India's first cooperative taxi service , Bharat Taxi Service . This service is set to compete with Ola and Uber . The initiative aims to give drivers a full share of their earnings . This will also give passengers the option of traveling under government supervision, rather than through private cab aggregators .
Over the past several years, various complaints have surfaced regarding app-based taxi platform services . These include issues ranging from inflated fares to arbitrary cancellations . Drivers have also frequently expressed dissatisfaction with the high commission rates charged by companies . This results in a loss of up to 25 % of their rental income . Now , all of their problems are about to be resolved .
When will this pilot project start?
Bharat Taxi 's pilot project will begin in Delhi in November with 650 vehicles and their drivers . If successful , a full rollout will take place in December , and after Delhi, the service will expand to other major cities .
Work will be done under the membership model.
