Like Baba Barfani (a reference to the Kedarnath deity), Kedarnath also holds deep significance for millions of devotees. Every year, these devotees travel long distances to offer their services to Lord Kedarnath and face many challenges on their pilgrimage. However, Lord Kedarnath, also known as Bhole Baba, is considered benevolent, and only seeking his blessings brings satisfaction to the devotees. Situated amidst the high peaks of Uttarakhand, Kedarnath Dham is a destination that people wish to visit at least once in their lifetime.

How to reach Kedarnath:

Kedarnath temple is located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. The temple doors remain open for six months every year and close just before heavy snowfall begins, usually around the second week of November. Kedarnath can be reached by road and helicopter services are also available. Helicopter services depart from Fata Heliport, which costs around Rs 6,000 per person for a round trip. Alternatively, if you are into trekking, the journey from Gaurikund to Kedarnath is a challenging 18 kilometers.

How to visit the temple:

To visit Kedarnath temple, you can go to Sonprayag by car and park your vehicle there. From Sonprayag, you have to proceed towards Gaurikund. The journey from Gaurikund to Kedarnath Temple covers a distance of approximately 18 kilometers, which you can complete on foot or by taking a helicopter from Phata Heliport to near the temple. The temple gates open at 4 a.m. and close for a few hours in the afternoon, usually from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for cleaning.
