The festival of Chhath Puja has arrived. Bihar has been the main center of this festival celebrated with great pomp in Eastern India. However, with time, this festival has started being celebrated throughout the country and abroad. During this four-day festival, fasting people offer prayers to Lord Surya. Sun God is worshiped in Chhath Puja. This year Chhath Puja is starting from 17th November. Chhath festival starts with Nahay-Khay on the Chaturthi date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month and this festival is celebrated for the next four days. Chhath Puja is celebrated by worshiping Argha at sunrise and sunset.

On the occasion of this Chhath Puja, you can visit the temples of Sun God. There are many famous Sun temples in India, where you can perform Chhath Puja.

Sun Temple of Gujarat
If you are a resident of Gujarat then there is Sun Temple near Ahmedabad. You can visit the Sun Temple in Modhera, 100 kilometers away from the city, during the Chhath festival. Emperor Bhimdev Solanki had built this temple. Solanki were Suryavanshi and they worshiped Surya as their family deity.

Sun Temple of Odisha
There is a very grand and beautiful temple of Lord Surya in Konark, Odisha. The shape of this temple is like a chariot, which has 12 wheels and 7 horses. There is a constant flow of people visiting the temple throughout the year. The temple was built in the 13th century.

Sun Temple of Aurangabad
Maximum enthusiasm for Chhath Puja is seen in Bihar only. It is believed that the Chhath festival originated in this state. Dev Surya Temple located in Aurangabad district of Bihar is very famous. The temple was built by the architect of the gods, Lord Vishwakarma, with his own hands. A large number of devotees visit this temple during the Chhath festival.

The Gaya of Bihar is famous for its religious importance. Gaya is associated with Buddhism and Pitru Paksha. Dakshinark Sun Temple is situated in Gaya. During Chhath Puja, devotees come to this temple to fulfill their wishes.
