Kaithoon city has today become a suburb of Kota city but its history is thousands of years older than the settlement of Kota. There are legends associated with it since ancient times but the Kaithoon world is famous for its three characteristics. The first specialty is the sarees of Kota Masuria or Doria. Who has made their mark in the country and abroad? The second feature here is the Vibhishana Temple which is the only temple in the country. The third major feature is that the effigy of Hiranyakashyap is also burnt on the next day of Holika Dahan i.e. on the evening of Dhulandi.

The country's only temple of Vibhishana is built here
The country's only Vibhishana temple is built in Kaithoon city. There is a huge statue of Maharaj Vibhishan ji in the middle of a huge umbrella on a huge platform. Whose upper part of the torso is visible. The remaining part is sunk into the ground. People say that this statue is also sinking into the ground every year at the rate of a grain. It is said about Chhatri that it was built by Maharao Umed Singh I in 1770-1821. There is an ancient pond near the temple. Which has an inscription of Vikram Samvat 1815. Which was renovated by the Gautam family during the time of Maharaja Durjan Singh. Even today, members of the same Gautam family come here to worship during Navratri. Every year a donation of more than Rs 10 lakh is collected for the fair. In which the money that is left after all the events is spent on the temple and Dharamshala.

Hiranyakashipu is burnt on the next day of Holi
People here play Dhulendi till 1:00 pm. After this, after taking a bath, a procession is taken out from Dharamshala. It includes vimanas from the Charbhuja temple, temples of Jagas, goldsmiths, and oilmen. After this, the effigy of Hiranyakashyap is burnt amidst a huge crowd. At night, people of the goldsmith community gather at the Vibhishana temple. All those families who have a son in the last year, distribute laddus. The goldsmith community has been following this tradition for more than 500 years.

There is a mythological story behind this
It is not that Vibhishan's temple was built in Kaithun only because of supporting religion, there is an ancient legend behind it. At the time of the coronation of Dashrath Nandan Shri Ram, gods and goddesses, sages and kings from all the worlds had come to Ayodhya. On this occasion, Lord Shankar expressed his desire to visit India to Hanuman ji. When Vibhishan heard this conversation, he requested that I travel with both of you to Kavad. He accepted this request of Ramsnehi Vibhishan but also imposed a condition that during this journey, wherever the Kavad touches the ground, the journey will end there. Vibhishan ji made a huge wooden Kavad whose length from one end to the other is It was 8 kos i.e. 32 kilometers. When Vibhishan was passing through the ancient city of Kauthunpur or Kanakpuri with Lord Shankar seated on one side and Hanuman ji on the other, at that very moment Lord Mahadev's side fell on the ground. This place is located in Char Choma, four kos i.e. 16 kilometers away from Kaithoon. Here Lord Mahadev ended his journey. A very ancient temple in the name of Chomeshwar Mahadev is situated here. A fair is held here in the name of Sorati. To the left of the stairs of the temple, the Kavad is still kept.

The temple is more than 5000 years old
According to mythological beliefs, Lord Rama was born in Treta Yuga. This is about 5000 years old. In such a situation, this Vibhishana temple is also estimated to be established only after he becomes the king. Local people also believe this and the same is mentioned in the history shown here.
