Like every year, this year too World Heritage Day will be celebrated across the world on 18th April. This day is celebrated to spread awareness among people for the preservation of memorial sites and monuments around the world.
If we talk about India, at present there are 42 World Heritage Sites in our country. Of these, 34 are cultural, seven are natural and one is Kanchenjunga National Park. If you also want to go somewhere on the day of World Heritage Day, you can go to those places in India where you will see many foreign tourists. These five sites of India are prominent among the world heritages.
Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal located in Agra is such a place that people come from abroad to see it. Examples of its beauty are given everywhere. This place made of special white marble was built by Shahjahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz. To go here, Indian tourists have to buy a ticket for Rs 50. Tourists from SAARC and BIMSTEC countries must buy a ticket for Rs 540. Whereas tourists coming from abroad have to pay Rs 1100 to see the Taj.
Delhi Fort
The Red Fort of Delhi was built by the Mughal ruler Shahjahan in the 17th century. Located in the capital of the country, this fort is made of red sandstone and its walls are red. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007. Every year the Prime Minister of the country hoists the tricolor on the ramparts of this Red Fort. Tickets are available in three categories here. The first-class ticket fare is Rs 20 per person. The second category ticket costs Rs 100, while the third category ticket costs Rs 500.
Ajanta Caves
The world-famous Anjata-Ellora caves have always been a center of curiosity and tourist attraction. These caves are located in Maharashtra. About 29 rocks have been cut here. These caves were built during the rule of the Vakataka emperor, Harisena. It is said that these caves were discovered in 1819 by a British officer who had come for hunting. These caves are related to Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. It was declared a world heritage by UNESCO itself.
Qutub Minar
The name of Qutub Minar is included among the tallest minarets in the world. It is situated in Mehrauli, Delhi. There is always a gathering of people here. This is the world's tallest building made of brick, which was constructed in the 12th century. Its height is 73 meters high. Foreign tourists also keep coming to visit Qutub Minar. In 1993, Qutub Minar was declared a World Heritage by UNESCO.
Jantar Mantar Jaipur
The country's largest observatory, Jantar Mantar, is located in Jaipur. Sawai Raja Jai Singh built the country's largest observatory, Jantar Mantar, in Jaipur, Rajasthan in the year 1734. Even today, rain is predicted with the help of the instruments present here. Along with this, these instruments are also helpful in making an almanac. If reports are to be believed, around 7 lakh domestic and foreign tourists visit Jantar Mantar in a year.
