Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan. Rao Jodha founded the modern Jodhpur city on May 12, 1459, after defeating the local tribal Bhil Raja and named it after him. After its population crossed one million, it was declared the second "metropolitan city" of Rajasthan. It used to be the capital of the historical princely state of Marwar with the same name. Umaid Bhawan

Mehrangarh Fort, also known as Mehran Fort. This fort was built in 1459 by Rao Jodha in Jodhpur. This fort is one of the largest forts in the country and is situated on the top of a 410 feet high hill. Mehrangarh Fort is protected by massive walls. The entrance of this fort is on top of a hill which is very royal. There are seven gates in the fort which include the names Victory Gate, Fateh Gate, Bhairon Gate, Dedh Kamagra Gate, Fateh Gate, Marti Gate, and Loha Gate.
Mehrangarh Fort Architecture
The Mehrangarh fort and palaces were built over 500 years. In the architecture of the fort, you can also see the basic architectural style of the 5th century with the features of 20th-century architecture. The fort has 68 feet wide and 117 feet long walls. Mehrangarh Fort has seven gates, of which Jaipoli is the most popular. The architecture of the fort has gone through an evolution of over 500 years. Chamunda Mata Temple
This is one of the very ancient and one of the oldest temples of Jodhpur, which was built in 1460 AD by Rao Jodha ji, the founder of Jodhpur, which is located very close to the Mehrangarh Fort. In this temple, the presiding deity is worshiped here. People consider this temple as a protective shield. During Dussehra and Navratri, there is a lot of brightness from this temple and at the same time, most of the devotees also come here to visit the temple. The opening time of this temple is daily from 5 am to 12 noon and from 4 pm to 9 pm. Lives between o'clock.
Castle of glass
Sheesh Mahal in Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur - A feature of royal Rajput architecture, the Sheesh Mahal, literally means palace of glass. The palace is exquisitely decorated with glass interior panels and multi-mirrored ceilings. The mirrors used here are convex shaped and designed with colored foil and paint that shimmer in the light of the lamp. These decorative mirrors are well complemented with various religious paintings made in stucco which shows the strong influence of religion and culture on the art of the time. Several decorative panels display deities such as Lord Brahma, Rama, Shiva and Parvati, Lord Krishna playing the flute, etc. This room was the bedroom of Maharaja Ajitsinhji, who ruled Jodhpur between 1679 and 1724.
Clock tower

Jaswant Thada
This magnificent monument is located just a short distance from the Mehrangarh Fort, which is a beautiful monument built in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, which was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh in the memory of his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh, in 1899 AD. Jaswant Thada is also known as the Taj Mahal of Marwar, there are often song-music programs, due to which tourists from all over the country like to come here. Its director was Karnisingh Jasol, who died tragically in a road accident. This museum has an excellent collection of paintings, sculptures, and ancient weapons.
