Lal Bagh is spread over an area of 240 acres in the heart of the city and has around 1,854 species of plants. It was commissioned by Hyder Ali in 1760 and completed by his son Tipu Sultan. Valley of Flowers, Chamoli Valley of Flowers is one of the best gardens in the country. The name of this valley is Alpine Valley and it was discovered by mountaineer Frank S Smith in 1937. This garden with alpine trees is considered a World Heritage Site. This garden, 8 km long and 2 km wide, was declared a National Park in 1982.
