History of Govind Dev Ji Temple
It is believed that this idol of Govind Dev Ji was installed in Vrindavan but due to the attempt of Emperor Aurangzeb to destroy the temples, the idol was transferred to Jaipur by Raja Sawai Jai Singh. And after some time, the temple of Govind Dev Ji was built by Emperor Akbar of Amer in 1590 AD and Mughal Emperor Akbar also gave 135 acres of land for the living and feeding of cows. After the work of Govind Dev Ji Temple was over, the idol of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was placed on the right side of the idol of Lord Krishna.

Story of Deity of Govinddev
The present idol of Govinddev ji, which is sitting in Jaipur, is described in a very beautiful story. According to beliefs, Vajranabh, the great-grandson of Lord Krishna, had built this deity. Vajranabh's grandmother had seen Lord Krishna in human form. When Vajranabh got the first idol of God prepared, Vajranabh's grandmother said that the feet of the idol was made exactly like Krishna but the other components did not match. This deity was known as Madanmohan ji and it is currently sitting in Karauli. Vajranabh got another idol of Lord Krishna prepared. Seeing him, his grandmother said that the chest and arms were well made. The rest do not match. This idol was known as Gopinath ji. Gopinath ji is sitting in Vrindavan. After this, a third idol was made, seeing which Vajranabh's grandmother covered herself and said that this is the real idol of God. He got famous by the name of Govinddev ji and at present, he is sitting in Jaipur.

The temple of Govind ji is made of sandstone and marble with a roof covered with gold. The architecture of the temple building is a mixture of Rajasthani, Muslim as well as classical Indian elements. Since it was built next to a royal residence, the walls are decorated with chandeliers as well as paintings.
