Established in 1984:

Spread over 11 acres, the zoo was established in 1984 and was opened to tourists and general public in 1995. Presently, it houses about 200 species of animals and birds from different parts of India.

Diverse Fauna in Nainital Zoo:

The zoo houses a wide range of animals and birds, including leopards, Bengal tigers, Tibetan wolves, Himalayan black bears, monals, silver pheasants, and markhors. It is noteworthy that this zoo has been named after the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and fourth Home Minister of India, Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant.

Scenic Environment:

Apart from the rich diversity of wildlife, Nainital Zoo offers a serene and picturesque environment. You will find beautiful paintings depicting the Kumaoni style throughout the area. After touring the complex, you can relax in the lush green park within the zoo.

How to reach the zoo:

Located in Tallital, Nainital Zoo can be reached by shuttle services and can also be reached on foot or by two-wheelers. The zoo is closed to visitors on Thursdays but welcomes visitors from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on all other days.

Entrance fees:

To enter the zoo you will have to pay an entry fee of Rs 100. Children under 12 years of age and senior citizens can travel free.
