Dholpur is known as an old historical city. Dholpur is a famous princely state of Shivi Vanshi Bamrolia Jats. Maharana is against the kings of Dholpur. Originally Dholpur was a branch state of the Jat dynasty of Bharatpur. At the time of the death of Surajmal Jat, the best ruler of Bharatpur (1764 AD), Dholpur was included in the Bharatpur state. After the death of Surajmal Jat, a separate princely state was established here. After an agreement between Scindia, the British and the Jats, the Dholpur region came under the Jat kings of Gohad. The present town is situated to the north of the original town. This was done to avoid the flood of the Chambal River. Earlier Dholpur was a part of the feudal state, which was merged in 1949.

City Palace

Mughal Garden, Johor

Muchukund-Sarovar
If you come to Dhaulpur, then you must visit Muchukund Sarovar. This pond was named after King Muchukund. This pond is very ancient. King Muchukund was the 24th king of Suryavansh. It is mentioned in the Puranas that King Muchukunda was sleeping here, at the same time the Asura Kalayavan reached here following Lord Krishna and, under the illusion of Krishna, got a boon. Woke up the sleeping king Muchukund. At the sight of King Muchukund, Kalayavan was reduced to ashes there. Since then this place is known as a religious place. Many such places around this place were built or transformed by Mughal Emperor Akbar. Muchukund Sarovar is called the nephew of all pilgrimages. A very beautiful religious place named Muchukund-Tirth, in the lap of nature, near Dhaulpur, about two km on the left side of the Gwalior-Agra road. Is located at a distance. Around this huge and deep reservoir, many small and big temples and places of worship, unique in architecture, were built during the reign of Palarajas from 775 AD. to 915 AD.
Muchukund Cave
Near Dholpur there is a famous cave known as Raja Muchukund which is said to be inside the Gandhamadan hill. According to legend, at the time of Kalayavan's attack on Mathura, Shri Krishna moved from Mathura to Muchukund's cave. Kalayavan reached here following Lord Krishna and he woke up the sleeping king Muchukunda after getting a boon in the illusion of Krishna. At the sight of King Muchukund, Kalayavan was reduced to ashes there. This story is described in Shrimad Bhagwat 10,15. Muchukund's cave is mentioned in the story context as follows. 842 AD from Dholpur. An inscription has been found, in which the consecration of Chandasvamin, or the temple of Surya is mentioned. The specialty of this inscription lies in the fact that in it we first find the date of Vikramsamvat which is 898.
Achleshwar Mahadev
In Dholpur, Rajasthan, where the Shivling located in the temple changes color three times a day. The name of this temple is the 'Achleshwar Mahadev' temple. Apart from changing the color of Shivling, this temple also has interesting secrets. The specialty of this ancient Shiva temple built in Dholpur is that the Shivling installed here turns red in the morning, saffron in the afternoon, and wheat in the evening. According to some researchers, this Shivling changes its color due to the rays of the sun falling on the Shivling. But no one has been able to give its correct scientific information. It is said that this temple is 2500 years old. At the same time, apart from Shivling, the idol of Nandi in this temple also has a very interesting history. The idol of Nandi in the temple is made by mixing five different metals. Mandir Shri Ram-Janaki and Shri Hanumanji, Old Cantonment
At a distance of 6 km from Dholpur railway station, Purani-Chhawani is situated on the way to Sarani Kheda from Dholpur-Bari road. Auto-rickshaws ply the route. Maharaj Shri Kirt Singh came from Gohad and established a cantonment at this place and got the temple constructed here in Vikram Samvat in 1642 (AD 1699). In the temple, there is a beautiful eight-metal idol of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram with twenty-four incarnations, which is facing north. This rare idol was also stolen. The then DIG Central Police Force, Jagdanand Singh played a major role in getting the international idol out of the clutches of smugglers. To the left of the Lion Gate of the temple complex, there is a huge statue of Hanuman, a devotee of Rama (facing south), gazing at his beloved Lord Rama. Blood vessels (veins) are visible in the idol.
