In today's article, we will tell you about the secrets of this temple. It is believed that if a man comes here to worship, all his wishes are fulfilled.
Where is this temple located?
This temple is located in Kollam district of Kerala. Mother Goddess is worshipped here. People believe that the Amma here is very glorious. But the rules made for men are strictly followed here. If they have to enter the temple, they have to wear traditional attire.
Men have to do this work for darshan
If men want to visit the temple, they have to dress like women. For this, they are allowed to enter the temple only after wearing a saree, applying kajal on the eyes, lipstick on the lips and flowers on the head.
There is also proper arrangement for decoration in the temple. Some people even remove their moustache and beard to look like women. Men do this because it is believed that the mother solves any problem like health, marriage, education, job etc.
Why do men have to wear a saree?
There are many stories behind this practice. According to a legend, once some shepherds wearing sarees worshipped a nearby stone. He saw divine power in it and called it Kottan and built a temple.
Since then, it has been customary for men to worship here in female attire. It is said that when a coconut is hit with this stone, it starts bleeding. Since then this stone has been considered even more special. Apart from this, it is being said that the size of this stone is increasing.
According to a legend, many years ago, it is said that small shepherd boys used to graze their cattle around the temple and play imitating girls.
This playful game often took place near a particular stone. One day, a goddess appeared from the rock near which they were playing. After this, the tradition of men assuming the form of women to have the darshan of the Goddess started.
