The surprising thing is that this fort was built right in the middle of the water. This fort is known as Murud Janjira Fort. The pleasure of seeing this fort in the middle of the Arabian Sea is different.

Where is this fort located?

This fort is located in Maharashtra. This is a famous tourist spot It is situated on an island near the coastal village of Murud in Raigad district of Maharashtra. Therefore it is known as Murud Janjira Fort.

If you are going here from Mumbai, you will have to travel 165 kilometers from Mumbai. To reach here you will have to take a boat from RajpuriGhat to this fort. If you have gone to visit the Konkan coast of Maharashtra then you must visit this fort.

The second largest cannon in the fort is KalalBangdi.

Its construction was completed during the reign of SiddiSural Khan. The fort was built in the 17th century during the reign of Siddi Malik Ambar, the prime minister of the Zanjeer region. The walls of the fort were built about 40 feet high.

There are about 22 round towers on them. Here you can also see some cannons live, from where the attack was used from inside the fort. These include the country's second-largest canyon, KalalBangri.

Time to visit the fort

The fort is open from 7 am to 6 pm. The boats stop at the main gate shortly before the fort closes. So reach here at least 6 hours before. Entry inside the fort is free. But a fee has to be paid to park the vehicle on the beach and reach this fort by boat from there.

Parking fee is Rs 30 and ticket prices range between Rs 20-50 depending on the boats. To reach this fort, 400 meters away from the beach, one has to travel by boat and Natu boats.

This journey is going to be very exciting. There is no food available here, so it would be better if you carry water and food with you.

How to reach

This fort can be reached by bus from nearby cities like Mumbai, Pune, Alibaug or Raigarh.

If you are travelling by train, then from Secunderabad, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam you can take a train to Pune, then from there you can take a bus to Murud-Janjira.

Apart from this, if you are coming for a trip from any other city, then you can travel by air, for this you will have to take a ticket to Mumbai ChhatrapatiShivaji International Airport.

Murud-Janjira is 88 kilometers from there. One can choose to travel here by bus or taxi. Winter season is considered best for travelling here.
