Desert Festival Theme

This time the theme of the Desert Festival is Back To The Desert. This festival is also known as MaruMahotsav. This festival is organized by the Rajasthan Tourism Department every year in the same month.

Where is the Desert Festival being organized?

This festival is being organized at Lakhmana Dunes located near Sam village. The distance of Sam village from Jaisalmer is 44 km. It may take you about 1 hour to reach here. This festival will start with a procession to the Laxminath temple. This temple is just 10 km away from Jaisalmer Railway Station.

What will be special in the Desert Festival?

  • At this festival, you will get a chance to see different types of desert competitions, which will be quite exciting. You can see competitions like longest moustache, turban tying and Mr. Desert.
  • Here you can watch the camel polo competition, which takes place between camels. One will get to see camel races and various stunts while sitting on the back of a camel.
  • Here you will get a chance to eat Rajasthani food, in which you can see different types of food stalls.
  • At the Desert Festival, you can also enjoy activities like parachuting, hot air balloons and zorbing balls.
  • You will also get a chance to enjoy Rajasthani dance and folk songs.

Desert Festival Timings and Entry Fees

If you are going to visit the Desert Festival, keep the timing in mind. From 10 am to 10 pm, you will get a chance to participate in the Desert Festival.

Entry Fee- This entry fee has been fixed separately for Indians and foreigners. It has been fixed at Rs 20 for Indians and Rs 100 for foreigners.

If you want to ride a camel here or want to eat something, then you will have to pay separately for this.
