Where is this idol of Bappa located?

This statue is situated on Dholkal Mountain in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. Dantewada district is just 350 km away from Raipur, where Lord Ganesha is seated on a hill.

To reach there, local children work as guides. They have developed this area as a tourist destination. Therefore local people are getting employment. The temple is known as Dholkal Ganesh Temple.

What is the history of the statue?

It is said that a fierce battle took place on this mountain between Lord Parashuram and Ganpati Bappa. The reason for the war was that Lord Parashuram had gained a lot of power from the penance of Mahadev and by using that power he won the war.

When he was going to Kailash to thank Mahadev, Ganpati Bappa stopped him at this mountain. In this war, one of Bappa's teeth was broken in half due to the halberd blow from Parashuram's hand.

After this incident, an idol of Bappa is worshipped with one-half tooth and the other with full teeth. It is said that in this war, due to the impact of the Parashu weapon, the mountain was broken and the rocks there turned into iron. Therefore the rocks of that mountain are called iron rocks. After this, the idol of Lord Ganesha has been installed here.

How will we reach the mountain?

To reach the top of the mountain you have to climb an arduous 5 kilometres. On this journey, you will get to see dense forests, waterfalls, old trees and high rocks. Even though the journey is difficult, you will have a lot of fun going here.

This ancient temple was discovered by a foreign geographer in 1934. Then in 2012, two journalists reached there while trekking and made their pictures and information viral, after which the trackers got a new mountain to climb.

Another story told about this place is that when this place was discovered in 2012, the local people with the help of the government found the broken remains of the statue in the surrounding area and restored the statue.
