Matheran

If you want to visit romantic places with natural beauty, then this place is best for you. This place is considered to be one of the most sought-after hill stations in Maharashtra. A picturesque location at an altitude of 996 feet above sea level will truly win your heart.

  • It takes about 2 hours to drive by road from Mumbai.
  • The weather in this place is best in winter. If you are visiting Matheran in this season, it is advisable to carry warm clothes including jackets and blankets.
  • There are lots of things to do here. Like visiting nearby hill stations, trekking in nearby forests, enjoying water activities and visiting nearby temples.
  • You can visit here to see Matheran Checkpoint, Bhagirao Peak, Bhagirao View Point, Bhagirao Fort, Matheran Road and Dhamangaon Lake.
  • Here you can book a hotel near the hill station. You can also stay in homestays in Matheran.

Diu (DIU)

You may feel strange after hearing the name of this place, but after seeing the view here, your eyes will be wide open. It is located near Veraval port in Gujarat. Its distance from the coast of Kathiawar is 21 kilometers.

  • This place also has its airport. Where you can reach easily. You will not get a direct flight till here. If you are coming from Delhi, you will have to take a flight from Ahmedabad or Rajkot. From here you can also go by bus.
  • From here you will be taken to Diu via Somnath, and the ticket costs around Rs 250. You will be dropped at Diu Bus Stand, named Jethibhai Bus Station.
  • After reaching here you rent a bike. You will find many shops around the Jethibhai bus stand that offer bikes for rent.
  • They charge around ₹450 to ₹600 for a day. You will have to pay for the oil yourself.

Munnar

This place is called Kashmir of South India. From this alone you must have understood how beautiful this place will be. If you want to see waterfalls, tea gardens, lakes and gardens together, then this place is best for you. A three-day trip here will be memorable for you for the whole year.

  • You can start your first day by exploring the spectacular views of the tea plantations and valleys of Munnar. You can rent a scooter and go to see the view of this 5,500 feet high place.
  • After this, you can enjoy boating in Kundla Lake, surrounded by cherry orchards and eucalyptus trees. The boat price is Rs 450 per person and Rs 200 for couples.
  • Here you can see the view of Attukad Falls, along the road. There are a set of waterfalls in the Munnar hills.
  • The best thing about this waterfall is that when you climb the steep stairs of the tea gardens surrounding the waterfall, you can see the flowing water from below as well as from above.

Panchgani

On New Year, you can also go to see the view of Panchgani Hill Station of Maharashtra. A 2-day trip to this place will make your New Year wonderful. There are many places to see here. You can come here to see Sydney Point.

It is situated at a distance of 2 km from Panchgani. Sydney Point is situated on a hill overlooking the Krishna Valley. The place was named after Sir Sidney Beckworth, who succeeded John Malcolm as the Governor of Bombay in 1830. Here you will get to see many places like Point Krishna Valley, Dhomm Dam and Kamalgarh Fort.

  • Apart from this, you can also visit Devil's Kitchen Panchgani Hill Station, at a distance of 2 km from Panchgani Bus Stand. The connection of this place is with the Mahabharata period.
  • It is said that the Pandavas of Mahabharata stayed here for some time during their exile. Some people claim that Pandavgarh caves.
  • Also at a distance of 7 km from Panchgani Bus Station, Rajpuri Caves are considered to be one of the most ancient attractions of the Panchgani region.

Karjat
