Let us tell you that today i.e. on January 1, 2023, BCCI held an important meeting (BCCI Team India Review Meeting), in which they took 3 important decisions. Let us tell you that one of those decisions was taken regarding the Yo-Yo Test. In such a situation, this article, lets us know what is yo-yo test is and when it started.
Let us tell you that it is very important for the players to stay fit in every game. Many cricket players of India, despite being in good form, are not fit, then they have to sit out of the team. In such a situation, if the player is completely fit, then he has to pass a test, which is called Yo-Yo Test. This test is done to check the fitness and stamina of the players. This test is completely taken with the help of technology. Let us tell you that there are 23 levels for the yo-yo test, but for the players, it starts from the 5th level. The whole process is based on software, in which the results are recorded.
In this test, two lines are made at a distance of 20 meters with the help of several cones, in which the player has to run from one cone to the other. From here, the heir has to come running from the second corner to the first corner. It is called a shuttle, and for this, a sufficient timeline is fixed.
Let us say that a total of 3 cones are placed on the ground, where the distance from cone B to cone C is 20 meters. As soon as the sound of the beep is heard, the player has to run and touch cone C before the second beep, and before the third beep, the player has to cross the line of cone B.
Now after this, the distance from cone B to cone A is five meters, for recovery. This means that if the player is not able to hit his mark in the given time, then he is given a grace of 10 minutes.
After that level 2 test starts, in which the speed is increased, in this if the player hears the sound of the beep before crossing cone B, it means that his speed is low. And if the player does not come to Cone B before the sound of the third beep, he gets a second warning. In such a situation, after two warnings, the player fails the test. This test starts from the 5th level and runs till the 23rd level. A minimum score of 16.5 is required to pass the test in India. While this score is 19 for the teams of England, Australia, and New Zealand.
