Openers Brendan King and Johnson Charles stitched a first-wicket century partnership as West Indies beat UAE by 78 runs in the second ODI to take a 2-0 winning lead in the three-match series. West Indies won this first series under Shai Hope as captain and Darren Sammy as coach. West Indies won the first ODI by seven wickets with 88 balls to spare.

West Indies scored 306 runs in 49.5 overs with King's 64 and Charles' 63 and a 129-run opening partnership between the two. Casey Carty (32), Hope (23), and Kvem Hodge (26) failed to capitalize on good starts for the West Indies. In the end, Odion Smith played an important role in taking the team's score beyond 300 runs by playing an aggressive inning of 37 runs in 24 balls.


Zahoor Khan was the most successful bowler for UAE, taking three wickets for 44 runs. UAE was reduced to 95 for five but an 80-run sixth-wicket partnership between Ali Naseer (57) and Basil Hameed (49) helped the hosts post 228 for seven. For the West Indies, Hodge and Roston Chase took two wickets each.
