Following India's six-wicket win over Australia in the opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup campaign, middle-order batsman KL Rahul revealed that his batting partner Virat Kohli advised him to start slowly and prepare for the Test in view of the challenging pitch conditions.

The tight partnership between KL Rahul and Virat Kohli played an important role in India's victory at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. He said- "I did not have much conversation with Kohli. After keeping 50 overs, I needed rest. I thought I would get it but without wasting any time I had to come to the wicket to bat. I had to take a shower. It was thought that I would get a break of 30 minutes but I had to immediately get ready and available for batting."

KL Rahul further said, "When I came to bat, Virat Kohli told me that there is a lot in the wicket. The Pacers will be effective with the new ball. Playing towards the Test match for some time. In the last 15-20 overs Dew played his role, he helped us a lot. It was not an easy wicket to play on. It was not a flat wicket. It was quite good for cricket, with something for the batsman and something for the bowler."

What did Rahul say about missing out on a century?

KL Rahul led India to victory by hitting a six. He was only three runs away from a century. When he was asked about this, he said that I had calculated how 100 runs could be scored. The only way was fours and sixes but there was no regret if he could not reach a hundred.
