Today we are telling you about the only cricketer in the world who has played cricket for both England and India.

We are talking about former Indian captain Iftikhar Ali Khan, also known as Nawab Pataudi Sr. He was born in Pataudi, Punjab. He was the eighth Nawab of the Pataudi family. Iftikhar Ali Khan completed his studies at the most prestigious Oxford University in England. He came into the public eye while playing club cricket in England. During college, he played an innings of 165 runs on the grounds of Inlords. Soon after, he got a place in the England team for the Ashes series.

In the first match of the Ashes series, he played an innings of 102 against Australia in Sydney and created panic. However, later he was dropped from the team due to poor performance. He last played a Test match for England in 1934. Iftikhar Ali Khan played his first test match for Team India in 1932. Iftikhar Ali Khan was proposed to be made the captain of the team. But he withdrew his name from the captaincy.

He was officially appointed captain on the 1936 tour of England. But due to ill health, he was out of the team. Finally, that moment came on the tour of England in 1946 when Iftikhar Ali Khan played Test matches for India and also captained the team. Iftikhar Ali Khan played only three test matches for Team India. He wanted to go back to England and play county cricket. But before that, he suffered a heart attack while playing polo in Delhi and died at the age of 41.
