Even though T20 and ODI cricket are the most popular, the real test of a cricketer lies in Test cricket. At present, Test cricket is played for 5 days. But earlier this was not the case. When Test cricket was started, matches were played without any time limit. Today we are going to tell you about the longest match in the history of Test cricket, which also got a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

In 1939, a match was played between England and South Africa in Durban. In this match, the South African team won the toss and batted first, and scored 530 runs in the first innings. The England team, chasing the target from South Africa, was bundled out for 316 runs in the first innings. South Africa got a lead of 214 runs on the basis of the first innings.

After this, South Africa's team came out to bat in the second innings, they scored a huge score of 481 runs and thus England got a target of 696 runs to win in the last innings. When the England team came out to bat, the start of the team was not very special.

But then England scored 654 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. However, by the time the second innings reached this position, it had been 12 days. It also included two rest days. On the 12th day, England needed 42 runs to win and the match was not ending. The England team also had to reach Cape Town. Because of this, the match was declared a draw. Many records were made in this match, which have not been broken to date.
