South Africa has suffered a major setback ahead of the three-match ODI series against India. South Africa all-rounder Dwayne Pretorius has been ruled out of the series against India as well as the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. South Africa has included Marco Janssen in their playing XI in place of injured player Dwayne Pretorius.

South African all-rounder Dwayne Pretorius has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against India and the upcoming T20 World Cup due to a fractured thumb. Cricket South Africa gave this information on Thursday.

Cricket South Africa's official handle tweeted, "#PROTEAS Squad Update All-rounder Dwayne Pretorius has been ruled out of the 3-match ODI series against India and the ICC Men's T20 World Cup."

Pretorius suffered the injury during the third T20I against India in Indore, and will now have to undergo surgery. Marco Janssen has been included in his place in the squad for the one-day series starting on Thursday in Lucknow.

It is noteworthy that Janssen is an additional player of South Africa's T20 World Cup team, Pretorius, who made his debut for South Africa in 2016, has played 27 ODIs and 30 T20 Internationals so far. He has taken 35-35 wickets in both formats while scoring 192 and 261 runs in ODI and T20 cricket respectively.
