Former captain Sourav Ganguly can step down from the post of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Apart from him, the 3-year term of Board Secretary Jay Shah is to end in October-2022. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether a new chairman and secretary of the board is replaced in place of these two, or Ganguly-Shah will get the responsibility again. Ganguly was made the President of BCCI in October-2019, before which he was holding the responsibility as the Chief of Cricket Association of Bengal.

Sourav Ganguly was associated with the Cricket Association of Bengal since 2015, after which in 2019 he was made the President of the world's richest cricket board, BCCI. According to a report in Sports Tak, his term is to be completed in October this year. In such a situation, he may also be discharged and the board may get a new chairman. India also achieved success in the bilateral series under his board president.

Another big success of Ganguly was also due to Rahul Dravid. Rahul Dravid was working in Bangalore as the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), after which Ganguly convinced him to take the responsibility as the head coach of the Indian team. Not only this, but Ganguly also talked to veteran VVS Laxman and convinced him to join the NCA.

At the same time, he got a big setback due to the recent controversy related to Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli had claimed that there was no talk of any kind from the board regarding his T20 captaincy. Meanwhile, Ganguly said that he had requested Virat not to give up the T20 captaincy. Apart from this, BCCI has so far failed to organize IPL for women cricketers despite assurances several times.
