Australian batsman Steve Smith will miss three ODIs and a T20I tour of Pakistan due to an elbow injury. Smith has returned home with Test specialists Cummins, Warner, Stark and Hazlewood after suffering an elbow injury during the Test series. Australia have included Mitchell Swapson in the squad.
Glenn Maxwell is also not included in the squad under Finch's captaincy. He has been excused from the trip since he recently got married. Smith has also not been included in any team in the IPL. Due to which he will now join the team in the tour of Sri Lanka starting from June 5.
"We don't want to take any chances for a player like Smith," said chairman-selector George Bailey. Mitchell Swapson is involved in our team strategy. The three-match ODI series between Australia and Pakistan will start on March 4. After that, the only T20 will be played on April 9. All matches have been shifted from Rawalpindi to Lahore due to political instability in Pakistan.
