Ever since England all-rounder Ben Stokes announced his retirement from ODI cricket, questions have been raised in the cricket corridors about the future of the format. Stokes retired from 50-over cricket citing workload management. After this decision of the captain of the England Test team, cricket pundits started expressing concern that the future of ODI cricket is in danger with the advent of T20 cricket. Now, Indian captain, Rohit Sharma has won hearts by giving his opinion on this issue. Rohit says that his name is derived from ODI cricket and it's all rubbish.

In an event, Indian captain Rohit Sharma said, 'My name is derived from ODI cricket, all are nonsense. People were talking like this about Test cricket earlier. Cricket is important to me - whatever the format. I will never say that ODIs are coming to an end or T20s are coming to an end or Tests are about to end. I wish there was some other format because playing the game is the most important thing for me.

He further said, "Since childhood, we dreamed of playing for India and whenever we play ODIs, the stadiums are packed, and the excitement remains. It is a personal choice whether to play in which format or not, but for me all three formats are important.

With this, Rohit Sharma said that Team India has benefited a lot from IPL, it has given exposure to the players, which has strengthened the bench strength of the Indian team.

The Indian captain said, 'I don't know what people are thinking about playing leagues before international cricket. There will be ten more leagues, but in the coming years, we will know what the players are like. But as of now, the situation in Indian cricket is the same - we play IPL and international cricket. People are getting exposure and we aim to build bench strength, so Zimbabwe has a lot of players who are visiting for the first time - be it Shahbaz Ahmed, or Rahul Tripathi - and it's good exposure.
