The World Cup 2023 opening ceremony which was originally planned to be a glamorous event in the presence of Bollywood stars and musicians, has reportedly been canceled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Reports suggest that the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 will not include an opening ceremony, although we have not been able to independently verify these claims. Nevertheless, fans can still maintain hope as BCCI has not made any official announcement on the matter.
Multiple reports have indicated that the much-awaited opening ceremony for the mega event will not take place, despite the BCCI having already planned an extravagant and grand event. Originally scheduled to be held on October 4 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the event featured a star-studded cast including Ranveer Singh, Arijit Singh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shreya Ghoshal, and Asha Bhosle, along with a spectacular fireworks display and a mesmerizing crowd. There was also going to be a laser show.
However, according to reports, the Captain's Day event, which was intended to take place after the inauguration ceremony, will go ahead as planned. All ten captains of the participating teams, including Indian captain Rohit Sharma, will be present at the event, which will be followed by an impressive laser display.
Furthermore, there are rumors that the BCCI is considering organizing a function before the much-awaited clash between India and Pakistan on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Additionally, BCCI may also organize a closing ceremony on the day of the final, which will take place on Sunday, November 19 in Ahmedabad.
India will begin their World Cup campaign against Australia on Sunday, October 8 in Chennai. With a strong squad and the advantage of playing on home soil, India is widely expected to perform strongly in this tournament and end their ICC title drought since their victorious Champions Trophy campaign in 2013.
