The 1983 World Cup-winning captain and one of the finest all-rounders of his era, Kapil Dev believes that the success of the team in the T20 World Cup depends on the number of all-rounders present in the team. Kapil Dev has also told that what are the chances of Team India reaching the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Kapil Dev said on the sidelines of a promotional event in Lucknow, "You want an all-rounder in the team, who can win matches not only in the World Cup but also in other matches or events. A cricketer like Hardik Pandya has been very useful for India. All-rounders are the key players of any team and they become the strength of the team.

He said, "An all-rounder like Hardik gives captain Rohit Sharma the freedom to use the sixth bowler in the match. He is also a good batsman, bowler, and fielder. Ravindra Jadeja is also a great all-rounder for India. Even in our days, We had a lot of all-rounders in the Indian team.

Regarding Team India's T20 World Cup prospects, he said, "In T20 cricket, a team that wins one match can lose the next. It is very difficult to talk about India's chances of winning the World Cup. The point is Will they be able to make it to the top four? And I'm worried about them making the top four, only then can something be said. The odds of me making it to India's (last) four are just 30%."
