Music legend Lata Mangeshkar and cinema's renowned actor Dilip Kumar was seen missing from the 'In Memoriam' section of the 94th Academy Awards. The absence of the two stalwarts of Indian cinema from the 2022 Oscars ceremony came as a surprise, especially after the British Academy Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) remembered and honored the late Lata Mangeshkar and Dilip Kumar earlier this month.

In 2021, the Oscars featured actors Irrfan Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput, and Oscar-winning costume designer Bhanu Athaiya in its tribute section. In such a situation, his fans were very angry for not remembering Lata Mangeshkar and Dilip Kumar. People questioned why the names of Lata didi and Dilip Kumar were not taken up in the Memoriam section.

Expressing his anger, a fan wrote – There was no mention of record-setting Lata Mangeshkar, who has sung more songs in her career than the total number of films shown at the Oscars to date. Does Oscar not consider her worthy to be paid tribute to her too?

"West Side Story" composer-songwriter Steven Sondheim, cinematographer Hella Hutchins, producers Jerome Hellman, David H. DePaty, Martha De Laurentiis, Brian Goldner, Irwin W. Young, Alan Lord Jr., "Superman" director Richard Donner, Filmmakers including 'Ghostbusters' producer Evan Reitman, costume designer EMI Wada, directors Jean-Marc Vallee, Lena Wertmuller, Douglas Trumbull, Felipe Cazal, visual effects supervisor Robert Black, Bill Taylor among others were also remembered.
