India registered its second consecutive win in the tournament by defeating Hong Kong (India vs Hong Kong) by 40 runs in the Asia Cup 2022 on Wednesday. With this, India has become the second team after Afghanistan to make it to Super-4. Electing to bat after losing the toss, the Indian team set Hong Kong a target of 193 runs thanks to the brilliant fifties of Suryakumar Yadav (68 not out) and Virat Kohli (59 not out).In response, Hong Kong's team could score only 152 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of 5 wickets.Babar Hayat scored 41 runs for Hong Kong.Ravindra Jadeja and Arshdeep Singh got 1-1 wickets for India.

Chasing the target of 193 runs, Hong Kong did not have a good start. The team had lost its wicket at the score of 12. Yasim Mortaza was dismissed after scoring 9 runs in 9 balls. Nizakat Khan and Babar Hayat shared 39 runs in 25 balls for the second wicket. Meanwhile, captain Nizakat Khan was run out. He was run out on a direct throw by Ravindra Jadeja in an attempt to take a run on a free hit. Nizakat scored 10 runs in 12 balls. Babar also could not stay at the crease for long and was dismissed after scoring 41 runs in 35 balls.

Earlier, India posted a mammoth total of 192 for two against Hong Kong in an Asia Cup T20 match on Wednesday with half-centuries from Suryakumar Yadav (68 not out) and Virat Kohli (59 not out). The duo put on an unbeaten 98-run partnership for the third wicket in which Suryakumar batted very aggressively, hitting six sixes and the same number of fours in 26 balls, which made Kohli's half-century fade.

Kohli scored a half-century after a long time. He hit one four and three sixes in 44 balls during his innings on Wednesday after scoring 35 runs against Pakistan. Suryakumar hit four lofty sixes in five balls off Haroon Arshad in the final over, as he completed his half-century in just 22 balls. India added 26 runs in this 20th over. India got off to a slow start with KL Rahul (36) and captain Rohit Sharma (21) not playing big innings. Rahul, returning from injury, was expected to score well but took 39 balls for 36 runs. He hit two sixes, one of which was on a free hit.

Captain Rohit was also dismissed in 13 balls with two fours and a six, he was dismissed by Ayush Shukla. Rohit also completed 12,000 runs as an opener in international cricket during this period. In an attempt to sweep the delivery of Mohammad Ghazanfar, Rahul was caught by the wicketkeeper. The team had lost both of these wickets in 13 overs, making the score 94 for two. Then Kohli and Suryakumar came to the crease and shared an unbeaten 98 runs in just 42 balls.
