T20 World Cup 2022 is to be played in Australia in October-November. For this, the squad of Team India can be announced this week. It is believed that Mohammed Shami may return to the team for the T20 World Cup, but this decision will be taken only after seeing the fitness report of Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah is not playing in the Asia Cup due to an injury. Bumrah took part in the rehab program at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, but no clear picture has been revealed about his fitness so far. 32-year-old Shami was part of the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup last year, but after that, Since then he has not played international matches in this format.

A member of the select committee said on Inside Sports, 'We will not take any decision on this until the decision on Bumrah's return is taken. He will return to the NCA this week, where his injury will be inspected. Once we get a clear idea, a decision will be taken whether we need an experienced fast bowler for the T20 World Cup or not.

On the other hand, young fast bowler Harshal Patel is recovering fast and it is expected that he will return to Team India before the T20 World Cup. If Bumrah is not fit till the T20 World Cup, then Shami could be Team India's first choice for Australian pitches.
