Talented India batsman Shubman Gill has said that former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh told him to try to bat till the end once he settles down at the crease. This advice from Yuvraj came in handy for Gill as he scored the first international century of his career during the third ODI against Zimbabwe here. Gill on Monday smashed 130 runs off 97 balls with the help of 15 fours and a six as India beat Zimbabwe by 13 runs to clean sweep the series 3-0. His innings were appreciated by many former players including Yuvraj.

In the video posted by BCCI, Gill said, "I met him (Yuvraj) before coming to Zimbabwe and he told me you are batting well. Go there and if you get stuck at the crease, try to play full overs. I told him the century is not coming and he said don't worry, it will happen.

After scoring an unbeaten 98 in the previous series against the West Indies, Gill is the third youngest Indian batsman after Yuvraj and Virat Kohli to score a century on foreign soil.

Gill, who was adjudged the best player of the match, told Ishan Kishan during the conversation, "It was a good wicket to bat on. I got your side and luck was on my side. It was important for me to make the most of this opportunity and I am glad I did."

Zimbabwe batsman Sikandar Raza also made a 95-ball 115 to lead his side to victory but Gill then took a brilliant catch at long-on after which India was able to register a 13-run win.

Gill said, “The fight was very tough. We didn't expect the match to be so close but that's what cricket is all about. When the ball was in the air, at first I was thinking that the ball would come easily to me. But the ball was falling down and I just dived to catch it.
