For Indian fast bowler Avesh Khan, the first two matches of the Asia Cup 2022 (ASIA CUP 2022) have not been right so far. In the last three international matches, Avesh has proved to be very expensive. He had definitely taken three wickets in the last ODI but also conceded 66 runs. Avesh then took one wicket for 19 runs in just two overs against Pakistan. The Indian fast bowler had conceded 53 runs in 4 overs in the last match against Hong Kong. After this display of passion, he is now set to sit out of the playing XI in the Super 4 match against Pakistan on Sunday.

Former Indian cricketer Rohan Gavaskar believes that at present, passion does not make a place in the Indian T20 team. He believes that Avesh needs to improve his game if he wants to make it to the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2022.

Gavaskar said in the 'Sports Over the Top' show on SPORTS18, "I think he has to improve his performance for the T20 World Cup team, no doubt. I am not too worried about what Avesh has done now. What have you done till now, because I think what is going on in the mind of the selectors and in the mind of most of the people is that at this point in time he doesn't fit in India's first playing XI.

Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan were selected for the Indian team as Bhuvneshwar Kumar's partners after Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were injured. Barring Bhuvi, however, none of the pacers has managed to make an impact.
