India captain Rohit Sharma created history during the third and final ODI against Australia in Rajkot on Wednesday. Rohit broke a world record by hitting the most number of sixes in a single country in international cricket, which included a total of 257 sixes in India.

Rohit not only broke this record but also achieved another big achievement. He became the fastest batsman to hit 550 international sixes, surpassing the previous record held by West Indies big-hitter Chris Gayle.

Rohit's performance while chasing India's target of 353 runs against the Australian team was nothing short of spectacular. He first came on the field facing the bowling attack of the opposing team in the powerplay. Rohit hit six sixes and five fours in his explosive innings of 81 runs off just 57 balls before being dismissed by Glenn Maxwell in the 21st over.

Gayle and Rohit have become the only batsmen to hit 550 sixes in international cricket, with Rohit achieving the feat in his 471st innings. Rohit, 36, is just three sixes away from surpassing Chris Gayle and setting a new record for most sixes in all three formats.

Currently, Gayle is on top with 553 sixes, while Rohit is far behind him with 551 sixes. He is followed in the list by Shahid Afridi with 476 sixes, Brendon McCullum with 398, Martin Guptill with 383, and MS Dhoni with 359 sixes.
