The Big Bash League revealed on Wednesday morning that the league's star player Glenn Maxwell had tested positive for a rapid antigen test after the Melbourne derby against Renegades on Monday. Now according to cricket.com.au, the results of the PCR test are awaited. Within hours, the BBL said that the Renegades had become the fifth club to report a corona positive case this season. After this, the Renegades canceled their training session on Wednesday.

Apart from Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades, three other BBL teams confirmed Covid-19 cases on Tuesday. The Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat match to be played on the Gold Coast on Tuesday was not played due to Covid-19 cases. So far 12 cases have been reported in Brisbane Heat.

Alastair Dobson, Cricket Australia's manager for the Big Bash, said, "The only option was to postpone the match in these circumstances, as there have been too many cases of corona in the Brisbane Heat team.
