The Indian team lost its first match of the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2022 to Pakistan on Sunday. The thrilling match lasted till the last over at the Dubai International Stadium, where the Babar Azam-led side won by 5 wickets. In such a situation, the second match of Super 4 will be important for India against Sri Lanka today. Earlier, former cricketer Gautam Gambhir demanded a change.

Ahead of the do-or-die match against Sri Lanka, former India opener Gautam Gambhir has suggested to the team management that Avesh Khan should be brought in in place of Yuzvendra Chahal in the playing XI. The former India cricketer also suggested that the team should give more chances to leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi keeping the future in mind. Bishnoi has played only one match in this tournament so far.

After the match against Pakistan, Gautam Gambhir said, "Avesh (Khan) should come in place of (Yuzvendra) Chahal. Definitely continue with Ravi Bishnoi, he has done everything in this match. Chahal has done everything in this competition. He hasn't bowled well, so maybe it's time to give Bishnoi a chance."Bishnoi gave 26 runs in 4 overs against Pakistan and dismissed Babar Azam.

Both Avesh and Chahal played in the first match of India's campaign against Pakistan on 28 August. While Avesh took one wicket for 19 runs in two overs, Chahal gave 32 runs in four overs without taking any wicket. In the second game which was played against Hong Kong, Chahal gave 18 runs in his four overs and did not take any wicket. Chahal got a wicket against Pakistan but gave 43 runs.
