The fourth Test match of the Ashes series between Australia and England is being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. By the end of the fourth day's play, the England team had scored 30 runs in the second innings without any loss. England will have to score 358 more runs to win on the last day. At the end of the day's play, Jack Crowley is playing on 22, and Haseeb Hameed 8 runs. Australia declared their second innings for 265 runs at the loss of six wickets and set a target of 388 runs in front of the visiting team. First innings centurion Usman Khawaja scored an unbeaten 101 in the second innings. At the same time, young all-rounder Cameron Green played an innings of 74 runs.

Earlier, Australia scored 149 for four in the second innings to take their total lead to 271 runs. Australia added 83 runs in the lunch and tea beach sessions and lost the wickets of Marnus Labuschagne (29) and Steve Smith (23). Mark Wood, who troubled all the Australian batsmen in the current series at his own pace, got Labuschagne caught by substitute wicketkeeper Olly Pope soon after lunch. Wood dismissed Labuschagne for the third consecutive innings. Jack Leach made his best spell of the series after lunch, which benefited him in the form of the wicket of Smith, who was bowled by the spinner's low ball.

Earlier, Australia bundled out England's first innings for 294 runs and then scored 66 runs for two wickets till lunch. Both openers David Warner (03) and Marcus Harris (27) returned to the pavilion in an attempt to tamper with the ball going out. England started the day at 258 for seven and lost the remaining wickets adding 36 runs. Off-spinner Nathan Lyon (2 for 88) got Jack Leach (10) caught by Cummins in the third over of the day.

On the third day, fast bowler Scott Boland, who went for a rib scan after falling while bowling, dismissed Jonny Bairstow, who scored 113 runs. Bairstow hit eight fours and three sixes in his 158-ball innings. Boland ended England's innings by getting Stuart Broad (15) caught by the wicketkeeper. He took four wickets for 36 runs. Wood then gave England a good start. He got Warner caught in the hands of Ollie Pope, who was keeping the wicketkeeper in place of the injured Jos Buttler. Before lunch, Leach also gave a second blow to Australia by getting Harris caught by the Pope.
