Just before the start of Team India's World Cup journey, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan extended his best wishes to Team India as the ICC World Cup 2023 begins today.
On his official Twitter handle, Dhawan inspired the Indian team by tweeting and wrote, “Chak De India! Let's paint the world blue, boys! All the best on your World Cup journey. Bring home the trophy! TeamIndia World Cup 2023.”
The first match of the tournament is being played between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. While India's opener match will be played on 8th October at M.A. Will be played against Australia at Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Both the teams have also reached Chennai for this exciting match. Ahead of the tournament, India could not play in the tournament warm-up matches against England and Netherlands as rain played spoilsport.
Dhawan was considered the star opening batsman for India after Virender Sehwag. In his career, the left-handed batsman has played 167 ODI matches and scored 6793 runs at an average of 44.11, including 17 centuries and 39 half-centuries.
Dhawan also has a special record in his name for scoring a century (187 runs) in his first Test match against Australia in 2013.
