The final group match of the Under-19 Asia Cup between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, going on here on Tuesday, was canceled after two officials were found infected with Covid-19, after which India's clash in the semi-finals. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) said in a statement, "The Asian Cricket Council and the Emirates Cricket Board confirm that the final Group B match of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup to be played today has been canceled." He said, “It is confirmed that two officers are Covid-19 positive. The officials are safe now and are being treated as per the rules of the tournament.

The ACC said, "All the officials associated with this match are being tested and they will be in isolation till the result is known." After losing the toss, Bangladesh had made 130 runs for four wickets in 32.4 overs at the time of the cancellation of the match. Ariful Islam was playing 19 while Mohammad Faheem was scoring 27 runs.

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka had already qualified for the semi-finals and the winner and runner-up of the group were to be decided from this match. Bangladesh topped the group due to their better run rate and will face India in the semi-finals on December 30. Sri Lanka will face Pakistan in the second semi-final.

India is the most successful team of this tournament having won the title four times in 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2018. India was also the runner-up in 2016. The last tournament in 2020 was held in New Zealand.
