The auction of media rights for the next five seasons of IPL (2023 to 2027) has earned the Indian Cricket Board Rs 48,390.52 crore. Disney Star has bought the rights to broadcast the match in India for Rs 23,575 crore while Viacom-18 has bought the rights to broadcast the match on digital platforms in India for Rs 20,500 crore.

Viacom has also bought a 'C' package of 'non-exclusive' rights for Rs 2,991 crore. The 'A' and 'B' packages include 410 matches for the next five years (74-74 matches in 2023 and 2024, 84-84 matches in 2025 and 2026 and 94 matches in 2027). Viacom bid through a group that includes former Star India presidents Uday Shankar (Bodhi Tree) and James Murdoch (Lupa Systems). Now the cost of an IPL match has gone up to Rs 114 crore.

BCCI Secretary Jai Shah tweeted that he was happy to announce that Star India had bought India's TV rights for Rs 23,575 crore. Now the IPL has become the second largest league in the world in terms of cost per match.

Packages A and B were auctioned off earlier, while Package C and Package D were auctioned off yesterday. Package C included non-exclusive match rights, which Viacom bought for Rs 2,991 crore. There are 90 matches in this package. Package D included foreign TV and digital rights, which were bought by Viacom 18 and Times Internet for Rs 1,300 crore.
