Bangladesh's T20I captain Mahmudullah Riyadh on Wednesday announced his retirement from Test cricket at the age of 35. Mahmudullah will continue to play ODIs and T20Is for the senior national team. Recently Bangladesh had a very poor campaign in the T20 World Cup.

The all-rounder announced his retirement from the longest format of the game on social media. Mahmudullah scored 2914 runs in 50 Tests, including 5 centuries and 16 fifties. He made his Test debut in 2009 and played his last match during Bangladesh's tour of Zimbabwe in July 2021.

In fact, Mahmudullah was then adjudged the man of the match as he scored an unbeaten 150 in the Harare Test in 2021 which is his highest score in Test cricket.

Mahmudullah said in a Twitter post, "I am officially announcing my retirement from Test cricket. I received the Man of the Match award in my debut and last Test. It has been a wonderful journey in Test cricket by the blessings of the above. I would like to thank my family, teammates, coach and BCB for their support.

Mahmudullah said, “It is not easy to leave the format that I have been a part of for so long. I always thought of going high and I believe this is the right time to end my Test career. Is."
