The Sri Lankan cricket team suffered a major setback when right-arm fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 due to a leg injury. The ICC said on its website that Chameera suffered the injury while the team was practicing. Nuwan Thushara has now been included in Sri Lanka's 18-man squad for the Asia Cup 2022 in place of the injured Chamira.

Sri Lanka has been placed in Group B in the Asia Cup 2022. In the tournament, the team has to play its first match against Afghanistan in Dubai on 27 August. The Sri Lankan team will then play its second match against Bangladesh on 1 September.
