England off-spinner Moeen Ali has returned to Test cricket after two years. He took a wicket after 650 days in Test cricket. Moeen dismissed Travis Head and Cameron Green in the first innings of the Edgbaston Test. Meanwhile, Moeen committed a blunder which got him fined by the ICC. This all-rounder has violated the ICC Code of Conduct.

Moeen has been fined 25 percent of his match fee by the ICC. "Moeen Ali was found to have breached Article 2.20 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to displaying conduct contrary to the spirit of the game," the ICC said. This is Ali's first offense in the last two years. One demerit point has also been added to Moeen Ali's disciplinary record for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct.


Why has Moin been fined?
The ICC reported that during the 89th over of Australia's first innings on the second day of the Edgbaston Test, Moeen was seen applying the spray to his bowling hand near the boundary ropes while fielding. Moin has accepted the punishment. The ICC said that before the series, the umpires told both teams that the players cannot put anything in their hands without permission.

What happened in the match?
England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bat on the first day of the match. England declared their first innings at a score of 393 for eight wickets. After that Australia's team was reduced to 386 runs in the first innings. England thus got a lead of seven runs.
