Ankit Rajput retires
Actually this player is none other than Uttar Pradesh fast bowler Ankit Rajput. Ankit Rajput has retired from all formats of cricket. Ankit has released a post on social media and informed about his retirement.
He wrote in his post that “Today I am retiring from Indian cricket with gratitude. The cricket journey from 2009 to 2024 has been the best time of my life. I thank BCCI, UPCA and Kanpur Cricket Association for giving me a chance”.
Had given up hope of getting a chance in Team India
Ankit is just 31 years old and it is said that a player is at the peak of his career at 31 years. But he has retired at this age. It is being speculated that Ankit has retired due to playing in the growing T20 leagues in the world.
According to the rules of BCCI, an Indian player can play in other T20 leagues of the world only when he retires from all formats of cricket in India. Not only this, he will also have to retire from IPL to play in another league.

Ankit's performance in domestic cricket is very good. Ankit has played 80 matches in his first class career in which he has taken 248 wickets in 137 innings at an average of 29.25. In List A, Ankit has taken 71 wickets in 49 innings of 50 matches at an average of 26.94. Whereas in T20, he has taken 105 wickets in 87 innings of 87 matches at an average of 21.55 and economy of 7.75.
Ankit's record in IPL is poor
Ankit has played for Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. His IPL career started in 2013 for Chennai while he played his last match for Rajasthan in the year 2021.
He has taken 24 wickets in 29 innings of 29 matches for all these teams in the IPL at an average of 33.91 and economy of 9.23. In which his best performance is 5 wickets for 14 runs.
