Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Avishek Dalmiya was admitted to a city hospital on Tuesday after being found positive for Covid-19. Dalmiya said in a Facebook post that he was showing symptoms of Covid-19 like fever and his RT-PCR report has come positive.

"As a precautionary measure, he has been admitted to Woodlands Hospital where he will be given monoclonal antibody cocktail therapy and his condition is stable now," an official told PTI. Last week, Cricket Board of India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly was also admitted to the same hospital after being found positive and was treated for four days.

Former Bengal captain Laxmi Ratan Shukla has also been found to be Kovid positive. He is the coach of the state's Under-23 team. "He has a high fever and his test report has come positive and he has been advised to remain in home isolation," the official said.

7 members of Bengal team corona infected
Earlier, 7 members of the Bengal cricket team were found to be Corona positive. The two-day practice match against Mumbai was canceled after several Bengal team players were found infected. This also affected the preparation of the Bengal team for the Ranji Trophy starting on January 13. Bengal has been placed in Group B along with Vidarbha, Rajasthan, Kerala, Haryana, and Tripura. He will play his first match against Tripura in Bengaluru from January 13. CAB has also stopped all local tournaments after the players got corona infected.

According to the bulletin of the Health Department on Monday, 6,078 new cases of Covid were reported in West Bengal, taking the total number of positive cases to 16,55,228. After the death of 13 people in the last 24 hours, the total number of people who died of this virus has increased to 19,794.
