Under the New Excise Policy in the national capital Delhi, 372 shops of existing government liquor are valid only till November 16. After this, all these will be closed and from November 17, 849 new liquor shops are to be opened, but in the meantime, it is feared that for the first few days, fewer new shops will be able to open. Along with this, even in the shops that will open, there is no guarantee that people will get liquor of their choice.

According to the report of NBT, from November 17, many problems are coming in the opening of new liquor shops. However, sources say that it is being told by the Excise Department that the ready shops, keep on taking photos and videos of their shops and sending them to the concerned officer. At present, they will be issued temporary licenses so that they can open their shops. After this, as soon as the shops are visited, permanent licenses will be issued to them.

Ban on construction work due to pollution

To control pollution in Delhi, construction work has been banned till November 17 and due to this, the construction work of new liquor shops has to be stopped. In such a situation, it will take time for these shops to be ready. On the other hand, if the ban on construction works is extended, then it may take more time to open liquor shops.

It will be difficult to get the variety of liquor

According to experts related to the matter, after the opening of new liquor shops, the full variety of liquor and beer will not be available, because there is a delay in getting the domestic and foreign brands of liquor and beer registered. Because of this, people will find it difficult to get the variety of their favorite liquor.

The merger of 4 licenses required to serve liquor in restaurants

The Delhi government has merged four separate licenses required to serve liquor in independent restaurants (not associated with any corporate). In this way, under the new excise policy, which is going to be implemented on November 17, now only one license will be required for serving liquor in restaurants. According to the notification, the existing L-17, L-17F, L-18, and L-18F licenses will be merged to form the L-17 license. The L-17 license is required to serve Indian liquor in independent restaurants, while the L-17F license is required to serve foreign liquor. The same L-18 and L-18F licenses are for serving Indian and foreign liquor along with wine, beer, and alcopop in Indian restaurants.
