The accused's lawyer Govind Vaishnav had presented many arguments in the court in defense. He said that the family comes from the BPL category and is poor. At the same time, the accused is young and is the only son of his parents. The parents are elderly and being poor, they could not even hire a lawyer for themselves.

On March 29, 2023, a report of the girl's disappearance was registered in Mavli police station. It was told in the report that the daughter came home from school at 4 pm. She left after changing her dress saying that she was going to her uncle. Since then she has not returned. The police started the search with the help of the dog squad. On April 1, the victim's body was found lying in a sack in a ruin. The police arrested the accused the same day. On the day of the incident, the accused was alone at home. His parents were not at home. He was sitting at the window and watching a porn movie on his mobile. He lured the girl with chocolate and called her to the house and raped her. He stuffed a cloth in the girl's mouth. During this, the girl died. After this, the accused cut the girl's body into 10 pieces and with the help of the parents, threw the body in a ruin about 200 meters away from the house.
