Article 144 in Mumbai, restrictions on New Year's party

Section 144 has been implemented in Mumbai in view of increasing cases of Omicron. Mumbai Police on Thursday said that the restraining orders under Section 144 of the CRPC would be effective from December 30 to January 7, which would ban New Year celebrations. It is forbidden to party in any closed or open place including restaurant, hotel, bar. The restraining order was issued in the wake of growing concerns about the Omicron version of the Sars-CoV-2 from several parts of the country.

No New Year celebrations, parties or any other activities will be held in any closed or open space in the BMC area. Groups of more than five people are not allowed in public places from 9 pm to 6 am.

Only 100 people are allowed in limited places for weddings, social, political, religious events or celebrations. 250 people or 25% of capacity, whichever is less, are allowed in the open space.

Where permanent seating is allowed to use 50% of their capacity, whereas temporary seating is allowed to use only 25%.

All restaurants, gyms, spas, cinemas, theaters can run at only 50% capacity. All such establishments should mention both approved full capacity and 50% capacity.

Only 25% seating capacity is allowed at venues for sports / event functions.

All eligible citizens should complete their Covid-19 vaccination. Only those who vaccinate in public places will be allowed.
