As winter sets in, authorities have intensified traffic control along the 165.5 km Yamuna Expressway, stretching from Greater Noida to Agra. Within just eight hours, traffic police issued over 150 e-challans to drivers exceeding the speed limit. The current limit is set at 100 kmph for light vehicles and 80 kmph for heavy vehicles to prevent accidents caused by fog and reduced visibility during the winter months.

Fines for Speeding

Drivers who exceed these limits face strict penalties: Rs 2,000 for light vehicles and Rs 4,000 for heavy vehicles. To further enhance road safety, the speed limit may be reduced between December 15 and February 15, lowering it to 75 kmph for light vehicles and 60 kmph for heavy vehicles.

Road Safety Initiatives

November is being observed as “Road Safety Month” by the traffic police, who are organizing awareness programs in Noida and Greater Noida. On Thursday, various initiatives were held at locations such as Okhla Bird Sanctuary Metro Station, Sector 94, and Kalindi Kunj to promote safe driving practices. Additionally, extra speed control measures are being planned for the Noida Expressway, further strengthening road safety across the region.
