Alwar: The wife used to work in the State Bank of India (SBI). Everyday she would see the heaps of notes that came to the bank for deposit and would tell the husband about it. The husband was also waiting for his tough days to turn around. But making the money disappear from the bank meant saying goodbye to his job. In such circumstances, the wife did not have the courage to steal cash from the bank. Finally one day such an idea came to the husband's mind that the wife also agreed to it. Under this idea, they neither had to make the cash disappear from the bank nor deposit it in their account. Because if embezzlement had been done like this, then this misappropriation of money would have been caught during daily counting through cash or entries.
He committed embezzlement in such a way that the police kept searching for him
In such a situation, in the desire to become rich soon, the husband and wife together made a plan so that the money comes to them and no one gets to know about it. Wife Nikki Sethi used to work in Mahal Chowk branch of SBI Bank in Alwar. Nikki used to handle the work of parking account of the bank there. After planning with her husband, she made fake vouchers of 99 lakh 44 thousand rupees. These vouchers are made after the customer submits a cheque or draft so that the amount written on them is put in their account. Under this process, Nikki talked to her family members and acquaintances and made vouchers of different amounts and transferred the bank money to those personal accounts. Those who matched the money felt that these payments were made in the right manner. Therefore, no one paid attention to them. Nikki made fake vouchers of 99 lakh 44 thousand rupees, that is, Rs 56 thousand less than one crore. Nikki made a total of 20 such fake vouchers and transferred the entire money to 20 different accounts. After this, the husband and wife quietly disappeared.
He evaded the police for 2 years by changing his identity
After this, as per the plan, the husband and wife took back the transferred money by making an excuse to their relatives. As a precaution, they changed their address and also kept distance from relatives and visitors. After this, 2 years passed but the police kept searching for them. According to Kotwali police station in-charge Naresh Sharma, this embezzlement was done by Nikki Sethi along with her husband Yogesh Sethi on 6 September 2022. After this, bank manager Anshuman reported it to the police station and an FIR was registered. The manager told that Nikki transferred this amount of a little less than one crore to different accounts in a fraudulent manner and then transferred that money to her account from there and withdrew it. Now the police has no way left for recovery. Because Nikki and Yogesh were found missing from their address. Their relatives also could not tell about their residence during police interrogation. Before absconding, both the accused are said to be residents of Scheme Number 10-B Housing Board Diwan Ji Ke Bagh.
Police is searching old records
Finally, after two years of hiding, the police came to know through informers that Nikki and Yogesh were living in Alwar under a hidden identity. The informers told the police that the husband and wife were living in a rented house in Surya Nagar area in Alwar. On this information, the police raided and found Nikki and Yogesh at the same address. Both were arrested. And on Monday, they were presented in the court. The police is currently interrogating both the accused on remand. The accounts in which the money was transferred have also been seized by the police. The police is now looking for the old crime record of the husband and wife. However, the police say that in the desire to earn quick money, both the husband and wife planned and carried out this incident of embezzlement.
