Palghar: Palghar police has solved the triple murder case with the help of a sniffer dog. In this case, a 30-year-old accused has been arrested from UP, who had killed an elderly couple and their 52-year-old daughter in Neharloi village of Wada. The bodies of the deceased were recovered on 30 August. In fact, 75-year-old Mukund Rathod lived in an apartment in Neharloi village with his wife Kanchan (72 years) and daughter Sangeeta (52 years). Mukund used to run a clothing business earlier, but after growing old, his expenses were met only from the income from rent. Mukund also had a son named Pankaj who lived in Virar.
All three were murdered by hitting with a hammer
At a short distance from this house, Mukund had rented a room on his other property to a person named Arif Ansari. Ansari was a resident of UP and in the next few days he had to return to his home in UP. For this he needed money. To make money easily, a dangerous idea came to his mind. On the afternoon of August 17, when Mukund was not at home, he went to meet them on some pretext. His eyes were on the cash and other valuables kept in the house of the elderly couple. As expected, Mukund Rathod was not at home. So he made an excuse to enter the house. Actually, a few days ago, he had given Mukund a hammer kept at his house for some work. He told Mukund's wife and daughter that he wanted the hammer back. That is why he has come to their house. As soon as his wife Kanchan reached the door to give the hammer, he snatched the hammer from her hand and attacked her with it. After this, he attacked their daughter Sangeeta, who was also at home, in the same way and killed both of them.
The accused kept the bodies in a trunk and stayed with them
After killing the mother and daughter, Ansari hid both the bodies in a trunk kept in the house and cleaned the blood stains from the crime scene. After this, he stayed with the bodies in the same house for several hours. He was waiting for the evening. In the evening, Mukund Rathod also reached home after finishing his day's work. As soon as Mukund arrived, Ansari attacked him with a hammer in the same way and killed him. Then Ansari covered Mukund's body with a sheet and fled with the mobile phones of all three and the cash, valuables and jewellery kept in the house. While leaving, Ansari locked Mukund's house from outside. Meanwhile, Mukund's son Pankaj, who was upset with his parents' phone being switched off for several days, reached their house on 30 August, i.e. 13 days after the incident. Seeing the house locked, his suspicion became stronger and he informed the police.
Dead bodies kept rotting in the house for 13 days?
When the police broke the lock and opened the door of the house, the bodies of Mukund, his wife Kanchan and daughter Sangeeta were found inside. Since 13 days had passed between the murder and the police reaching the house, all three bodies had decayed badly. The police started investigating the murder and called the dog squad. But the interesting thing is that despite almost two weeks having passed since the murder, the sniffer dog sniffed the items present at the crime scene inside the house and led the police directly to the door of Ansari's house located at a short distance. That is, the smell of the murderer was present even after two weeks despite the unbearable stench emanating from the bodies. But Ansari was found missing from the house. His door was locked. After this, when the police inquired, they got the address of Ansari's house in UP. After this, Palghar police along with UP police finally arrested Ansari. After the incident, he had reached his home in UP with the looted valuables and jewellery. Completely unaware of the fact that the smelling power of a sniffer dog had revealed the truth of his being the murderer to the police.
