A high alert has been issued in Mumbai after intelligence agencies received information about terrorist activities carried out by pro-Khalistan groups. A senior official said the planned terrorist attacks in Mumbai and other major cities were reported after the arrest of Jaswinder Singh Multani, a member of the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) organization allegedly involved in the Ludhiana court bombings and interrogation in Germany.

"Apart from the SGF, we have received information that other pro-banned Khalistan groups are in touch with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to carry out terrorist activities in Mumbai, Delhi and other cities," the official said.

Sikhs for Justice is banned in India. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police has been alerted and asked to remain vigilant and pay attention to suspicious movements. Mumbai Police has directed all police stations to remain vigilant. On New Year's Eve, the Rapid Action Team and the Bomb Squad have been instructed to remain vigilant.
